59699 2002-07-04 01:44:00 ok how about a pressF1 readers vote. i'm more interested in the reasons people vote for xyz. tweak'e (174)
59700 2002-07-04 01:47:00 are you talking about the general election....or games....and is there a difference? godfather (25)
59701 2002-07-04 01:56:00 Oh gawd. Could be a can of worms, people slagging each other off about politics.......prefer to see this site remain pretty much apolitical, still get plenty of opinion on the world's affairs anyway.

IMHO

(P.S. Vote Labour) :)

59702 2002-07-04 02:25:00 *COUGH*

pc only. in case you missed it, it was refering to the upcoming pcworld readers votes. would be nice to have a pressF1 ver of it so you can actually discuss for eg what game this year was better.

no offence to anyone but how many people actually get to try all the different games, computer parts, antivirus programs or are they just voting for their favorite team?

59703 2002-07-04 02:32:00 Shoot! OK yeah, sounds like a good idea. mark c (247)
59704 2002-07-04 02:33:00 If we are voting for Press F1 then it definitely gets my vote.

Hope this isn`t going somewhere else and things start getting political. Don`t think it`s the place.

I come here to get help and just sometimes (not very often) manage to post a reply with help for someone else. Don`t like it when personalities start getting in the way.

If I`ve read this wrong then my apologies tweak`e. I enjoy your comments and postings (even if sometimes it`s way over my head, at least I`m learning)

59706 2002-07-04 03:50:00 Wow, flame bait. (IMHO). Of course, none of us would dare to challenge anyone else's choice of the "best" OS. Or ISP. Or office suite. But when you start saying things about MY monitor .... just step outside. ]:) :D Graham L (2)
59707 2002-07-04 04:12:00 >none of us would dare to challenge anyone else's choice of the "best"..

why not ??? ?:| ?:| ?:|

everyone has there favorite....all for different reasons.

<puts on flame proof suit>

eg-

i like viewsonic monitors, they work well and i hate philips.(still have a good IBM)
best video card nvida gf4 4600........ati are not quite there yet
best cpu..AMD performance vers $$$ however heat is a downside
best OS.. win98SE known evil....just waiting for the bugs to fixed in XP.
best office app........office2k. havn't used officeXP and while the price of open office is sweet it dosn't display a lot of my files correctly.
best file sharing...kazaa lite
best antivirus ...norton still. avg is ok, panda crashes out, macfee?? seen to many problematic setups with it.

just for starters...

59708 2002-07-04 06:41:00 hehe,

<flame>

I put it to you that phillips is good. i'd like to know why you dislike them.

I agree with viewsonic, office2k and amd - i haven't installed officeXP mainly because of compatability between several pc's.

Best OS = XP - I mainly say this because i although i use win2k I don't have admin priviledges (well, I do, but if i used them... ;-)).

personally, i liked win95, but times change and i can't run powerful apps (photoshop 7, delphi enterprise, acrobat distiller, macromedia mx...) on it.

best antivirus = norton, tried others but as you say...
