59548 2002-07-03 22:58:00 I have a very upsetting horrible thing that has attached itself to my internet explorer, its a web site with links to children pornography, it is titled lolita ****er, and I cant get rid of it, I have tried things like deleting internet explorer and then downloading it again, I have gone thru all the programmes to try and find what it has attached itself to, but still cant get rid of it. It has started to interfere when I open other links while on outlook express, it imediately goes to lolita instead of opening the link I clicked on, PLEASE if anyone knows how to get rid of this let me know!!!!!! I hate it and dont want it on my computer!!!! kiwispirit (834)

59550 2002-07-03 23:24:00 You should install and run adaware, which may fix it.
The program may have its hooks into all sorts of areas on your PC, quite nasty.

get adaware from here:

Do you run anti-virus software, with the latest updates? If not get it installed immediately, and also a firewall such as the free zonealarm program. Antivirus (AVG) from www.grisoft.com is free.

59552 2002-07-04 00:11:00 Have you tried "Add/Remove Programs" in "Control Panel"? Could be as simple as that. cadifan (286)
59553 2002-07-04 02:15:00 No help on fixing, but prevention is best. Used to happen to me this sort of thing.

Point 1. Stay out of the back streets.

Point 2. Be extremely wary of sites that encourage you to make a number of clicks to do things that seem like they should be simpler. You don't know what you're saying 'yes' to. For all you know you've just changed your homepage and any other number of things that could lock it in.
