| 59445 | 2002-07-03 11:39:00 | My year old PC has developed an intermittent boot problem. On pushing the start bottom the HD & CD lights appear but no Video full stop, and the POST beeps a few times but no life. Hitting the reboot has no effect, only by switching off at the power supply and trying again and again does one have any luck. Once the PC does boot up in W2000 its fine. Is this a Bios fault or possibly a Virus, Nortons AntiVirus is loaded and kept up to date. Thanks for any suggestions. | Bruce (829) | ||

Depending on your BIOS type, the number of beeps is the pointer to the problem. Listen carefully, write it down and post back here with the BIOS type (ie AMI or Pheonix etc) and code (long or short beeps, how many) and someone will translate |
