59404 2002-07-03 10:17:00 I am currently operating Nortons Anti Virus Version 2000 and update regularly on a home computer.I have E-mail protection enabled and use Zone Alarm as well .A message comes up that "you have E-Mail protection " when ever I open my mail following that a spyglass comes up and passes over a envelope on the lower bar.my question is this.Am I also protected by Nortons using Microsoft Internet explorer ?.I cannot see any indication that I am and there are no settings options available in the programe settings .How can I configure my anti virus to check all incoming internet material?Your comments and help would be gratefully recieved as The Symantec Nortons Help desk does not show this old edition. As long as your settings are set to "auto-protect" then yes, you will be protected.

I would advise you to open NAV, find the Options and have a good look around. I am not familiar with your version, but there should be settings which you can enable or disable for various options. I have mine set to load auto-protect at Startup and to scan program files at this time.

It will also scan program files whenever a file is run, opened, copied, moved, created or downloaded. I don't have it set to scan my emails because it is covered by the previously mentioned options. I also save email attachments to my desktop and manually scan them before opening them - as long as I think they are legitimate. If I don't think they are, they immediately get deleted.

As I say, have a good look around your program as it will help you to understand it a bit more. You can also press F1 in NAV for help on any item.
