59475 2002-07-04 01:55:00 my apologies...
i started writing and computer crashed and apparently sent the message ...

Inhouse Computers is a business in Palmerston North where the computer was brought from,
it has "inhouse" on the box..so i dont know what brand it is (compaq/toshbia etc)....

it only happens when I am online basically, I open like 3-4 explorer windows at once and then go and do something (get food etc) and come back and it crashes...
But if i only open one window..it seems to be alright...
I uninstalled MSN Messenger beleiving its from that but its not...
I still have ICQ running on my system so i dont know if its that...
Also when I play games like Motorhead or Ashes Cricket 97..the game like freezes for a moment or so and runs again (plays on from where it stopped) and when i quit the game i do ctrl/alt/delete and it has msgsrv32 not responding...

59476 2002-07-04 02:20:00 It could be any of 100's of causes unfortunately, but as it relates to being on-line it may relate to your modem driver software being buggy?

Would be worthwhile locating the exact make and model of your modem (by looking inside, at the card that the phone line plugs into, and trying to see what the make and model is (e.g. aztech 56kA123)

Often if you can see the "telepermit" sticker and get the number off it, you can search www.telepermit.co.nz and find the make and model, as many cheap modems dont have names on them.

Then use www.google.co.nz and search for the modem driver using that info. Install the new driver and see if that helps.

Unfortunately as its an intermittent problem, there are thousands of things it could be....

Hopefully someone else will have some suggestions.

As to the brand, the computer won't have one as it will be made from components sourced from everywhere.

Also, go into control panel, system, device manager, and see if there are any little yellow alerts next to any listed devices, this will tell you if any of the components are incorrectly configured and in conflict.

59478 2002-07-04 05:18:00 Driver issue? - you've checked you haven't got two mouse drivers loading for example? Biggles (121)
59479 2002-07-04 05:50:00 Are you sure its not msgsrv32 not responding that is freezing your mouse though, and not the other way round..... godfather (25)
59480 2002-07-04 08:00:00 i took the mouse off..and reinstalled (drivers) and it still happened...

well i dont know if its msgsrv32 thats freezing mouse or other way around...
because i dont know when it would happen (the freezing) and after the mouse freezes...it has the msgsrv32 not responding...
but before it happens...msgsrv32 isnt even on the list that comes up with ctrl/alt/delete.

59481 2002-07-04 10:39:00 Also...
after i sent that message at 7pm...
I tried a few things...
and found that after msgsrv32 doesnt respond, i went to settings/system (using the keyboard) and saw that there is no mouse detected....
