59438 2002-07-03 10:36:00 Hi guys, i'm new here and i need help with looking for a job. I've been looking for a job for about 2 months now and it's been unsuccessful. I was wondering if anyone knows of good job search on the internet that would help me alot. Or if anyone here works in the industry and looking for someone. I know this is not the place for this topic but it could help me abit. Thanks boom23 (176)
59439 2002-07-03 12:15:00 Well boom23 i really dont want to sound like a downer but the job market right now for IT positions (especially if your a uni grad) aint that hot. Infact its in a recession at the moment, a prime example of Telstra Clear axing 300 odd jobs not too long ago.

There are several ways to get around this....
1) Most companies like to hire people who already work in there company for any job openings available before it is advertised. So work for a place for some call center work for example, and when a opening for a position that you really want, go for it. Your automatically placed in the priority line.

2) Personally i dont find looking for a job on the Internet is all that it is cracked up to be. Good example is myself, been searching on the net for a job for ages decided to stuff this approach and try the good ole fashion newspaper. Guess what? First ad i responded to in the paper and i got the job!! But if your still determined i found www.jobstuff.co.nz is really good.

3) Screw working in the IT industry and look somewhere else! :D But seriously you could find a temp job for the moment and still keep looking for the job you want. At least you get some $ for the time being.

Hope this helps boom23, because i really know what your going through at the moment. Just remember to just keep your chin up and think positive. It really works ~_~
