2002-07-03 09:52:00 | Would be better if you transfer the image of the cd instead, and do the installation fromt the image. Would be much easier and faster. You'd need a program like clonecd to make an image of the cd, then transfer it, then use a program called daemon tools to emulate the image of the cd, then run the installation of the image. | boom23 (176) | |
2002-07-03 12:31:00 | Or just copy the whole CD into a folder on the laptop and run setup.exe | -=JM=- (16) | |
2002-07-03 12:32:00 | You will invariably need to get access to the CD again for certain aspects of office anyway so the method i mentioned above is very good. | -=JM=- (16) | |
2002-07-03 13:17:00 | JM, I guess one of the laptops have no cd-rom hence installing without cd. So how would he be able to copy the contents of the cd on the laptop without cd-rom? The method I've mentioned above will serve a lot of purposes. You won't need a cd anymore if you have the image of the cd. Daemon tools will emulate the image as if it was a cd in your computer (works the same as virtual cd).

2002-07-03 13:22:00 | Oh I forgot to mention, you'll have to transfer the file(s) for sure since your other laptop has no cd-rom. There are 2 options - installing via lan as John W mentioned - you could copy everything into a folder and transfer them (I don't recommend) or you could make an image of the cd into 1 file and transfer it, and run the installation of the image which I would recommend.

2002-07-03 21:45:00 | DCC will work fine - but will take a while. Copy the CD to a folder on the 1st Laptop. Enable file sharing on that folder. Create a folder on the 2nd Laptop to receive it and enable file sharing on it. DCC copy the folder across. Make a coffee and a batch of muffins. Disconnect DCC. Run the install.
