60125 2002-07-06 13:52:00 I don't think refresh rate effects the jerkyness of the 3d apps/games. It's just how fast your monitor refreshes the images. What chipset is your motherboard? eg, VIA, ALI ????? boom23 (176)
60126 2002-07-06 13:57:00 its a via chipset, and i have the lastest drivers
i have been told the latest drivers dont work well with xp
does anyones know if this is true and if so what version do you recommend

60127 2002-07-06 23:52:00 it all depends on what you call jerky ?:|

have you turned the vertical sync off ?

60128 2002-07-07 11:23:00 Latest VIA 4 in 1 driver works fine in XP. I'm using it now.
You gotta tell us more on your problem.. In details.

60129 2002-07-07 22:49:00 I have a similar setup but my problem is on start up I have 3 or 4 freezes before every thing seems to settle down, latest drivers installed and before installing updated drivers remove all nvidea files by nv*.*
If I disable ti4200 at shut down and load the default, restart, shut down I have no problems starting up next day until I reanable ti 4200 then a couple of resets and then it will go all day without too much trouble.
Since starting this ramble I had one restarting automatically win reporting device driver problem then a few minutes later a freeze. In all 4 restarts this am.
I also tried my old tnt2 card and was actually able to try out morrowind and combat mission no problems no restarts etc.
Computer shop is going to change the motherboard but I have read that the psu mat not be up to the power demands anyone shed any light on this problem please

remeber most of the games quoted at the top are dos based

i know the matrox and navidia drivers have several problems with open gl in dos, check out http://glsetup.com/ for upto date gl drivers
unsure if it supports xp "sry' not using xp personally yet
