| 60422 | 2002-07-07 02:51:00 | While I am surfing the Net the following interrupts my surfing frequently and takes me to the homepage meaning I virtually have to retrace my sites or abandon with frustration. I quote some extract from the box which appears frequently: "MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Restart Microsoft internet Explorer? Please tell Microsoft about this problem. Send Error Report Don't Send" Clicking either button or restarting the M I Explorer does not solve the problem but takes me to the homepage to start all over again. It is very frustrating. Any advice or help will be appreciated. |

| 60423 | 2002-07-07 03:14:00 | How frequent is this happening? The error you are seeing is the Internet Explorer Error Reporting Tool, it replaces the normal Windows 'This program has suffered a ...' error box, and lets you send an error report to Microsoft to help solve the problem and prevent it happening in future versions. It was availible as an update for IE5, and is built into IE6. The reason why it pops up is because IE has crashed. Maybe you should see what is causing the error by viewing the details of the error report (there should be a link somewhere on that page) which tells you what caused the error, etc. If it is one of IE's files (goto Start>Find/Search>For Files and Folders and search for the file that IE had an error with) then reinstall IE. Take note of when the error occurs (i.e. is it when you goto a page requiring an ActiveX control?) and take steps to resolve it (i.e. Re-install that plug-in). Hope this helps. |
