60650 2002-07-08 02:00:00 I have just installed a network between our 2 win98se computers .Everything seems to be working well in the network,printer-file sharing etc .
I tried to share the modem on the server pc but after adding this under windows components the PC started freezing at startup and at any other time .After going to safe mode and deleting modem sharing this pc is now running ok.
What have i done wrong???
This computer is a P3 1000 with 256mbs memory

60651 2002-07-08 07:03:00 May help if you detail the IP addresses you have used, for each pc and the gateway... godfather (25)
60652 2002-07-08 07:23:00 Hi Godfather
On this PC with the modem the IP address is 192.168.0.1 and the other one 192.168.0.2 and both on subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Both are configered to TCP/IP and IPX/SPX
The LAN itself is working well as the kids were playing a multi player game on it this afternoon .
I want to use it on a dial up modem for the time being until we are connected to jetstream on wednesday.
I actually followed the instructions from a FAQ on Press F1 about networking PCs
Thanks for your help on my other question

60653 2002-07-08 07:25:00 Not too sure about the address for the Gateway as it is a dynamic IP address i think as we are still on Dial up. Warren (875)
60654 2002-07-08 07:27:00 OK, but what is the IP address you have assigned to the gateway??
(Alternate IP address under TCP/IP)
