| 60635 | 2002-07-07 23:14:00 | A couple of months ago I posted a problem whereby my computer froze or rebooted whenever I used the modem. Scotty kindly responded and suggested 1: downloading the most recent driver for my modem, and 2:visiting Microsoft critical update. I managed after a number of attempts to finally download from Microsoft, although as soon as the update began to install my computer froze. I also eventually managed to obtain and install the latest driver for my modem. Unfortunately there has been no improvement. My questions, therefore, are these: Is there anything else I can do to resolve this problem? If my only course of action is to buy a new modem then will the same thing happen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Regards Gary |

| 60636 | 2002-07-07 23:57:00 | It's hard to say if it will start happening again with a new modem. See if you can borrow another modem from someone to tryout for a while, if the same thing happens then I would assume it's not the modem that is directly causing the problem. | Sam H (525) | ||
| 60637 | 2002-07-08 00:03:00 | had same problem couple of weeks ago, turned out to be a faulty hdd, modem drivers just happened to been in bad sector on hdd that would be an example of alternate hardware causing the problem Paladin |
