60560 2002-07-07 10:42:00 How about us being able to see who is online and some form of private message service would be good, hey even a chat room.

:) Just some thoughts.

60561 2002-07-07 11:03:00 They've all been mentioned before and the general concensus was that it is not really needed.

If need be we could always set up a PressF1 IRC channel :

60562 2002-07-07 12:10:00 Perhaps SusanB can make a new FAQ: 'What can I suggest to improve the PressF1 forums?'

60563 2002-07-07 21:43:00 Don`t think you can improve what is already so good (can you???)

Was wondering tho` if it is possible to get "printer friendly" options. Like to print out quite a few of the suggestions and the FAQ`s. for reference.

Hope everyone has a good day. It surely is getting water logged in The Heart of Kiwifruit Land

60566 2002-07-08 06:24:00 "XXXX" at the end of your postings might be misunderstood. People don't read explanations. There's no such thing as bad advertising ...

Reputation? The word is notoriety. ]:)

Iris, don't know if you'd be interested or not, but what I do when I want to save a thread or something for reference, is to use my mouse to select the text, copy it and paste it into a Cardfile program that I've got.

Before Cardfile I used a Press F1 Word document and after copying the information in I would allocate a Heading1 style to the topic header. That way I could create a Table of Contents at the beginning of the document which provides links for me to click on and jump straight to a topic.

Using this method means that I can save heaps of info without having to print everything and amass a mountain of paper. In time a lot of the info passes its Use By date as I become more knowledgable or no longer require the information and the file gets a regular purge. At any time I can easily print out a few pages of any topic if I need a copy in my hands to refer to.

My parents live in Papamoa and my sister at the Mount so I bet they've had enough of the wet stuff. We had an absolutely gorgeous day down here in ChCh after Jack Frost packed his bags. :-)

60568 2002-07-08 06:47:00 Yes, it is too soon to start suggesting.

I reckon the voting thing off PC World's main site but with more frequent topic changes and weirder questions.

Ones like:

- do you wear your best underwear when you upgrade your PC?
or perhaps
- can your PC sense when you are stressed?

Graham . . . .

"Notoriety: the quality or state of being notorious"

"Notorious: 1 . well-known, 2 . widely but unfavourably known or talked about"

I thought you were my friend . :-(

You've spoilt my day now . :_| :_| :_|
