| 61056 | 2002-07-09 11:32:00 | Mum lol... i saw a discussion talking about how to convince mum about xbox... I'm at college, fulltime 3 year course, and am really dying to get a laptop to really have/get a laptop to help with my studies and communication since i am deaf... But i;ve been going around stores, all offer me a range of $500-$900 deposit 3 years with interest, apart from leader and watt $500, 2 years interest free... But yeah as a student i aint got that much money around lol...i know mum is approved at leader and watt, and she could get it interest free/10% off/no deposit for 2 years... which i;d lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve... but i'd wanna convince her to get it for me but I'd pay it, on top of the board i pay her and it can come out of my acc or hers (if its mine then no added on board)... but how can i convince her that its a good idea? |

Besides, that'd put me out of a PC. :D But I know how ya feel, I'm deaf too, and thrive on a computer for communications. I'd be farked without e-mail... |

Just remember that your mum probably won't want to see you in debt for a long time so if she says no, then accept it . It will be for your own good . Having said that, have you made enquiries at your college regarding government assistance? I read an advertising supplement from our university the other day and one of the student profiles was nearly blind . She got a subsidy for a special computer to assist her with her studies . It might be worth you enquiring about something similar - as long as it actually was for your studies and not for your games, ahem! |

| 61063 | 2002-07-10 02:13:00 | Where are you from? If in Auckland I can give you the contact number for a few computer brokers. I bought some Compaq P233s for approx 500+gst. They are wonderful for low spec work like word processing and small spreadsheet. If you're not a power user, these would do just fine for two or three years. Alternately look at www.trademe.co.nz and see if you can find some bargains there. |

| 61065 | 2002-07-10 06:30:00 | Also try trade me here (http://www.trademe.co.nz) for second hand computers. Remember, only buy from people that support safe trader. If you are really eager to get a new one try to get interest free, I know bond and bond have an interest free deal going at the moment. I know theirs would probably be more expensive but you will end up paying less than you would if you were on a hire purchase with the interest. I also know their service is shocking but if you know what your looking for then have a look at what they have got. |
