Sharky Extreme (www.sharkyextreme.com) has posted up a Pentium 4 Northwood Overclocking Guide (http:) for reading. The guide will show you how to get the best out of the Intel CPU the safest and less destructive way. It makes a good change from all the AMD overclocking guides out there.

Gainward has announced a new TI 4200 chip that is clocked by default to 270/570MHz. These speeds are almost line ball with the TI 4400 clock speeds. The board uses 3.3 ns memory that if pushed can also run at the TI4600 pace of 600Mhz, whereas other nVidia partners use 3.6 ns memory on their 64Mb cards and 4.0 ns memory for 128Mb cards. Gainward claims that 65 per cent of users that purchase this card will be able to go as high as 290/610MHz and easily beat reference-clocked Ti 4400s from other nVidia partners. You can read more about it over at The Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/).

USA Today has reported a large case of making sure all your URL's are correct when a link on the Singapore stock exchange's Web site pointed to a pornographic site instead of an indicated plastics company site. Read more below:
Investors interested in Avaplas, a Singapore-based company specializing in plastic injection moldings, were mistakenly directed to "China Girl Wild World Web."

The plastic company's Web address is avaplas.com.sg, but visitors to the exchange's Web site were being sent to avaplas.com, said Raymond Chow, a spokesman for the Singapore Exchange.

Until Thursday, avaplas.com directed surfers to a pornographic site splashed with pictures of nude Asian women.

The Singapore Exchange fixed the problem on its Web site immediately after an employee reported it, said Chow.

Chan Kok Hock, the financial head of Avaplas, said that the mistaken link may have been on the Singapore Exchange Web site since March.

The Web address mix-up arose when "cyber-squatters" registered the domain, www.avaplas.com (www.neowin.net), and tried to sell it to Avaplas for $5,000 in April.

Avaplas refused to buy the domain, and the cyber-squatter then turned the domain into a conduit to the sex site.

Late Thursday, the avaplas.com site was no longer directing viewers to the pornographic site, but instead to the Singapore Exchange Web site.

3D Extreme has posted up a review of the Liteon 48x12x48x Internal CD-RW Drive giving it a glowing report. Here's part of the the blurb:
I have been impressed with the quality and reliability of Liteon products for some time now. The Liteon 48x12x48x does not disappoint! This is the fastest CD-RW drive and the best price/performance drive on the market. Liteon continues to push the envelope by increasing burn speeds while providing a high quality product at a very reasonable cost. I've already seen this drive shipping for about $95 and around $100 shipped. If you're in the market for a new CD-RW there's no good reason not to look twice at this drive. You won't be disappointed!

Tweakers Australia have posted up their thoughts on the Intel 845G chipset and the P4 2.53GHz processor. The review looks at how well the new chipset with 533Mhz FSB and integrated video performs, especially with the 2.53 CPu in. Here's a snip:
In May we saw the release of Intel's 845E chipset, the latest mainstream P4 DDR platform incorporating a 533MHz front-side bus speed teamed with the new ICH4 Southbridge. We also saw their 845GL chipset, still using the older 400MHz front-side bus and no AGP slot, but integrated video. Last but not least we were introduced to the 845G chipset, essentially a hybrid between the 845E and 845GL chipsets utilizing the 533MHz front-site bus, ICH4 Southbridge, AGP as well as integrated video.

Mediaman from Icrontic has posted an article titled The Memory Game (www.icrontic.com), a subject that poses many a question and sometimes very few answers. Here's a snip from his article:
Memory configuration errors come in many forms but the most common has a blue face. The dreaded BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) has haunted all of us at one time or another. Often it is easy to track down as some sort of coded clue has been left that allows us to compare notes with others and solve the problem. Other times the answer remains hidden under a rock, buried in the sand and tucked away on a beach on a rocky coastline.
Had to play the DIMM configuration game to attain stability? Found out that three is not necessarily better than two? Bought that registered ECC memory and wish you hadn't? Are you just sick of blue? Then read on.
These problems and more I think everyone can relate to at least once in their PC life.
