60813 2002-07-08 10:00:00 I am running Windows XP and have Microsoft Outlook (not express). My dad has account for his e-mails (cjs@xtra.co.nz) and I am wondering can I set up my account and how? As you can tell, our ISP is Xtra. And is it possible to ressive .Net Passport (Hotmail) e-mails through my Outlook account?

Any help would be good, thanks

60815 2002-07-08 10:35:00 Hi James

You should be able to set up an alias account under your dad's Xtra account no problems at all. You can run up to five addresses on the one account if I recall correctly.

Hotmail with Outlook is another matter though and I haven't found a way that I can understand yet, though there have been supposed solutions posted on various forums. They were way too complicated for me to understand though I got Outlook Express handling it OK. I now check my normal accounts with Outlook (including Xtra aliases) and my Hotmail addresses with Express.

Cheers

60816 2002-07-12 11:05:00 go to file > New Identity (or manage indentities) just so that you can make a new identity.
Make a name for the identity and maybe a password
When it comes up with the internet connection wizard (i think that it is called that) or something like that fill in all the forms.
When it comes to entering your e-mail address type in (yourusername)@hotmail.com it should recognise it as an Hotmail.com account and automatically fill in the pop and smtp settings. if it doesn't just try clicking next and see if you can send or receive mail.
Just click next and fill in your password and all the rest of the forms until you get to the end. AT which poiint just click send/receive at the top and it should be fine
