1306668 2012-10-13 13:16:00 in a gaming system the most important parts are the psu, gpu, cpu, mobo ram, everything else in that order.

That psu doesn't sound fantastic, I would cull some of the ram, add more later in order to beef up the psu and graphics card if you can.

Also don't forget to factor in the cost of the OS, keyboard, etc. You can ask many retailers for a bundle deal if you're buying a full system of components from them though.

1306669 2012-10-13 13:23:00 Thanks, I was just wondering if it would play battlefield 3 on decent to good quality without dropping below like 25-30 fps sean2487 (16918)
1306670 2012-10-13 18:16:00 Multiplayer in 1080p at highest settings? No way. icow (15313)

Brand of parts matters.
Motherboard, Graphics - Gigabyte or ASUS.
PSU - Corsair, Enermax or Antec. Never buy a generic PSU bundled with case.
Hard drive, Seagate or Western Digital.

And the GPU you have is not that wonderful....the single most importnat component in a gaming machine is the GPU.

1306672 2012-10-13 20:14:00 something like a radeon 7850 would be able to play probably about high settings and the 7850 can be overclocked tons jonovw (16835)
1306673 2012-10-13 20:23:00 Yeah you could save money and go for like an i5 2500 to get a better gpu. As the gpu is the most important and in most gaming builds ends up being the most expensive part. Slankydudl (16687)
1306674 2012-10-14 00:35:00 Ah thanks, know any good online sites to get decent parts for cheapish? sean2487 (16918)
1306675 2012-10-14 01:02:00 This is like 1400.. Could I cut a couple hundred out anywhere? Or is this not even all that worthy?

1306676 2012-10-14 01:37:00 As mentioned before, you need to consider a better PSU than the 400W. Something like below
