1282179	2012-06-16 23:22:00	Went to see this last night and enjoyed it (didn't connect it to the aliens movies therefore had no expectations dashed there), however it did leave me with a few unanswered questions; 1. Why did the Engineer dude at the beginning drink that little pot of black stuff ? Was it suicide or a test run of a weapon ? 2. Why was there a spaceship watching him drink it that then shot off once he had ? 3. Why did David poison the scientist fella (charlie was it ?) 4. What exactly was the planet they went to ? Was it the weapons development factory the pilot suggested or something else ? and finally 5. Why did the big dude attack and kill everyone ? Was the human race an experiment they had carried out that they were not happy with and hence the need to destroy earth and all humans ? Is that why they had the stock pile of black goo, to cancel out failed experiments ? Any thoughts ?	globe (11482)

The engineers seeded human life across the universe. For some unknown reason they have now started destroying it. All of the pots/cylinders of black stuff were bio/genetic weapons. The Engineer was killing himself for the purpose of releasing the weapon across the planet. 2. Why was there a spaceship watching him drink it that then shot off once he had ? It was full of more of his own kind, watching to see that he succeeded in his mission... then off to kill all humanity on the next planet. 3. Why did David poison the scientist fella (charlie was it ?) An experiment. He was working under orders from the old man. For all they knew this stuff might have been the fountain of youth that the old man sought. 4. What exactly was the planet they went to ? Was it the weapons development factory the pilot suggested or something else ? Yup, they setup the bioweapon facility on a barren planet to minimise the chances of contaminating their own 'home'. Why did they leave clues across Earth about the location of this biofacility? Maybe to see if we were stupid enough to expose ourselves to a contagion or unable to contain it. This is about survival of the fittest of human-kind. We earthlings are inferior to our Engineer 'parents', and must die. and finally 5. Why did the big dude attack and kill everyone ? Was the human race an experiment they had carried out that they were not happy with and hence the need to destroy earth and all humans ? Is that why they had the stock pile of black goo, to cancel out failed experiments ? Guess work, but maybe humanity became a huge breeding ground for the nasty aliens we were familiar with from previous movies. Now that human kind had interstellar travel they may have begun to spread the 'Alien' contagion, and so threatened their original home world. The logic may have been to eliminate all other humanity in order to stop the spread of the Aliens. On the other hand, since David wasn't sure of the language, maybe he accidentally called the big dude a fag :) and the big dude may have been too sensitive or insecure to handle it. The engineer was the seeder of life on earth. He consumed the liquid. His DNA dissolved and combined with Earth molecules to form life on earth. (Interesting note, the waterfalls real. Iceland) 2. Why did David poison the scientist fella (charlie was it ?) To test the effects of the liquid on humans and find out what it did. 4. What exactly was the planet they went to ? Was it the weapons development factory the pilot suggested or something else ? LV23 3. The original Alien was LV4-something a rather. It was a storage depot or research facility. 5. Why did the big dude attack and kill everyone ? Was the human race an experiment they had carried out that they were not happy with and hence the need to destroy earth and all humans ? Is that why they had the stock pile of black goo, to cancel out failed experiments ? The engineers seeded the earth and came every so often. The earlier civ's thought of them as gods and deities. Something caused them to retaliate and they ended up leaving earth. Presumably to return and seed the humans with the black goo. Possibly to further generate more Aliens.	bob_doe_nz (92)

1282184	2012-06-17 21:51:00	Most of these questions aren't meant to have answers, they are intentionally mysterious. Why do people feel the need to have everything explained. If this was a true story we wouldn't have all the answers, because it's fiction we expect the storyteller to explain everything?	dugimodo (138)

If they are left mysterious then they are intentionally left like that to stimulate debate and explanations, ergo the reason behind this thread.	globe (11482)
