| 1281651 | 2012-06-15 02:22:00 | So the people of Syria are busy killing each other... happens in the middle east. They should be left alone to sort it out themselves. As soon as there is a winner the country will settle down. The weak and helpless will be killed, making for a smaller, but stronger population. This is how nature works. Any interference from other countries will only prolong the killing and cost millions. While the conflict is confined to within their borders its nothing to do with us. | mzee (3324) | ||

Weak and helpless will be the ones without guns and women and children. Guess that would leave a bunch of gun mad guys running around. Nature? Humans haven't lived like that in a long time. Nature used to kill us off with things like a lack of food, cold, other animals eating us and most of all, disease and accidents. Shall we throw away all our stuff and really live in "nature" now then? |

This clown and his Englander wife will go the way of Rumania's last dictator and his dragon with a bit of luck if he leaves it to the last minute to flee to Iran.Go the Sunnis kick some Shiite ass. The West does not need to meddle in this one its not worth the hassle just give the rebels plenty of 7.62 x 39s and some RPGs they can do the job. Job is on. |

Maybe sometimes the attempt to help can actually make things worse but still people feel the need to try. It's all very well to take a hard line and say leave them to sort themselves out, until it's someone you care about in danger and then your attitude changes completely. I'm personally of the opinion there are too many people in the world and we need to reduce the population, that doesn't mean I could ever feel right about innocent people getting killed. |

Unfortunately it requires one of these unpleasant twats to keep them in line. Take these nasty types away and you can observe the result in Libya ,Iraq Egypt etc. We can't all have the good English tradition of fair play. |

| 1281660 | 2012-06-15 09:04:00 | Bit of a tricky one, I mean, if we had a band of people in this country who were against the Govt and started causing riots, burning buildings, fire bombing the police and army etc, what would we do or our Govt do. This is a minority of the population, so do you stand down and bow to the minority, or, as the majority of your countries people support you, do you stand up and try to stamp out the violence the minority are causing - using whatever force is necessary to do so. And then you find out neighbouring countries are supplying arms to the minority (now called "rebels"), so now what do you do? Then the Yanks and Brits get in on the act and say the Govt should stop the violence and is thinking about supporting the minority, why? Surely it should be helping to stabilise the Govt and tell the rebels to lay down their arms, when that is done, then the Govt will have no one to shoot at will they. The "rebels" are to blame, the Govt is just trying to get it under control with wheatever force is necessary, if they are killing some of the rebels, well and good, they are not called "rebels" for no reason. I feel sorry for the innocent people who just want to get on with their lives and make a better life for themselves, the rebels living amoung these people, trying to use them as human shiels and it is those who are suffering when the bullets are flying. The people & Govt have built the country, the rebels are destroying it, they have no respect for their fellow people or their country. So, the original question remains: If 10,000+ people in NZ started marching, throwing fire bombs, smashing everything up in sight because they didnt like the Govt and bringing the country to its knees etc, what would we do? And what would we think if the Yanks started supporting them with small arms to fight against the authorities? |
