You can never suit everyone 100% and there will always be an element who dont agree with Govt policy. It is the minority element who have rebelled. So do you give in the the minority or try and stamp out the unrising and try to protect the majority? Seems you are damned either way you go. Iantech (16386)

Given the consequences of openly opposing the government it is hardly surprising that the silent majority appears happy with the (previous) status quo.
I have an internet acquaintance in Syria and from what I have read between the lines there are few that would be sad to see the back of Assad and his cronies. He is always rather careful with his words and doesn't say much at all about the current state of affairs, which says a lot in itself as he is usually fairly forthright and opinionated about a lot of other subjects. :)
