1306552 2012-10-13 07:56:00 Yes I have two sound devices showing in Device manager. There are 4 Nvidia High Definition Audio entries and one Realtek High Definition entry. Uninstall the Nvidia High Definition Audio drivers from Device manager. I use the Realtek inbuilt sound on my motherboard. The Nvidia High Definition drivers are used only if you are using audio when you have a HDMI cable connected up to a Nvidia graphics card, as the HDMI cable is used for both sound and graphics.

How can I find out what device is the default one for my motherboard?

I have 2 entries
ATI HDMI Audio
NVIDIA HDMI Audio Device

I assume the NVIDIA isn't the one built into the motherboard, but I've looked for ATI Audio drivers but the ones I've found haven't worked.

Here is a screenshot of the CPU-Z screenshots of my stuff, would someone be able to link me to some drivers that work? Thanks

1306555 2012-10-15 07:43:00 I already had tried that link but I just redownloaded it and gave it another attempt, and then this came up:

That's what happened when I tried to install the AsusSetup.exe file.

1306556 2012-10-15 08:05:00 Is the onboard audio enabled in the BIOS?? The onboard video is Nvidia not ATI. Btw the BIOS on this is old. You may want to update it sometime Speedy Gonzales (78)
1306557 2012-10-15 08:17:00 Can you check something please -- looking at the bottom Picture posted -- Go into the BIOS , Advanced/Chipset/Southbridge - Make sure the audio is not disabled.

Default Settings:
4392

(when starting it will flash along the bottom of the screen what to press, generally Delete or F1 to enter BIOS)

Edited: As mentioned the Audio is VIA.

1306558 2012-10-18 07:43:00 Just checked bios, my audio is enabled. Do you have any other suggestions? rice_risotto (16917)
1306559 2012-10-18 21:45:00 Are you using the onboard audio or do you have a card?

If you are using a card then go into your audio settings and make sure (for example if you have Soundblaster card) "Soundblaster Xifi Xtreme" or whatever your main audio is selected under Sound playback and Voice tabs for the audio properties and NOT the Nvidia HDMI or ATI.

(Control Panel then Sound and Audio devices)

If it's onboard audio then make sure that is selected.

I personally use a sound card and disable onboard audio (not even installing the drivers) because onboard is always more trouble than it is worth in my experience.
