| 1282145 | 2012-06-17 06:47:00 | I reckon I can trump you all on unfair power charges. On the meridian low user tariffno daily charge and per unit cost is just 17.15cents including GST. Do you think that is a good rate? It is until you here that we have our Lines Bill seperately We are one of the lucky ones or should say were! We sussed out how with the advantage of a Load Control Meter how to get our KW load down during those monited periods over winter gas cooking helped massively as well as ripple controlled hotwater, having a wetback just made a differance to the Meridian bill. So our Lines bill each and every month from 1st April until 1st April next year when it will be reset by the highest loads this year was $32 per month! pretty impressive given without the load meter that would have been $70 per month or even higher with more electricity used e.g heat pumps, cookers etc. and this was on a low user tariff as well our kw load 0.64kwh compared to the none metered value of 1.9kwh. But I crow no more because apparently back in 2007 when we were put on this low user tariff it was a mistake as apparently in 2005 this area was declared exempt from the low user tariffs by some piece of paper by the energy minister at the time. This is currently being challenged by a group thats gone to the EGCC. So now from July 1st that charge is increasing to $75 per month ......... That is before we even switch on a lightbulb! Holiday home owners are stung at 2.2kwh a cost of $95 per month or more. The whole situation here is so complex you think you got it difficult unless you figure out this system here you will be stung big time. This peak loading as they call it is based on the highest energy use during a 2 hour period over the winter! Just takes 2 hours over the 4 months they monitor it and you are fubar. |

| 1282146 | 2012-06-17 08:25:00 | Dunno how much "customer service" you need with power - either it is on or it isn't. I'll take the extra $ thanks. Yes, and let's say it isn't. How long before they get back to you? Or...no hot water, what do they charge you to come check and see if it's HWC element or their end? How quickly do they come? Or, just before we moved in here and the power had been disconnected as it had been empty for some time, then what? Meridian said we had to wait here between 8am and 5pm for their guy to come out. What day? Tuesday or Wednesday. Can we not get a call roughly beforehand and turn up then? No. Current co said sure, and rang an hour before guy turned up.. Or, down South when the wire off the pole out in the street fell off, arcing and stuff and power to house went dead, how long before they send a guy out? How long before they answer the phone even? Or, when I found I had been charged 3 phase power at my shop, getting passed off by them saying it was line co's fault, Line co saying sure, they change that sort of thing physically but power co do the charges and power co need to dump it back down to business standard rates. Power co stalled until I rang Power Ombudsman. See? That's why customer service. Or, you find your low user plan is a con, how does power co, respond, say tough **** and pay the change of plan fee, or let you off it and change you back? |

| 1282147 | 2012-06-17 09:43:00 | Some of the service quality issues: What happens if they billed you incorrectly? If they have issues when you try to switch to them. We had that with one company in the past. The folks just thought it was so much trouble they went back to the old provider. A salesman walked to their shop to ask for it. They got two bills or something ... from the two providers. If you had to call them about something and the queue is long and if they cannot understand you or process your query correctly .... |

Might mean you are alreading on some kind of saver (low user) plan, but different from their offered alternative saver (low user) plan. I calculated differences for 2 of their plans. Contact Energy has lower user line supply charge of 33 cents, which comes to about 37 cents with GST - similar to yours. Powershop may have quoted gst included for their offering. |

| 1282149 | 2012-06-18 19:38:00 | And for all of you and me, just wait till the power co's are sold off. "We" as investors want (best)return from our shares. Guess what the power prices are going to do! The best money making scheme for the future. Thanks nats! | notechyet (4479) | ||

| 1282151 | 2012-06-18 22:18:00 | The only way to stop power prices going up is to cut down on the number of Power Generators, Lines Companies and retailers. Each one has shareholders, CEO', Finance departments, marketing departments etc etc. And all of this costs money that we pay for. Power is something that one cannot do without and surely we have all saved as much as we can. |

Having dealt with the Lines Company called The Lines Company I am not sure if cutting down the number of Lines Companies will help. The reason! Because The Lines Company has a major flaw in is inferstructure and literally a North South divide that makes the billing structure expensive to some and not to others. www.thelinescompany.co.nz The approach of this Lines Company has been the subject of Target, Fairgo and practically every consumer programme in New Zealand. The amount of complaints they have per user is probably the highest in the country! If you think you can fix that while reducing the cost to the consumer........good luck. |

Guess what the power prices are going to do! The best money making scheme for the future. Thanks nats! There are 5 coys' all paying dividends to the Government coffers. My investment companies' (holding my company superannuation funds) have not made anything substantial in the way of dividends or capital gains. Might just take up the Government's offer, as they are quoting a few goodies, dividends, bonus shares, etc, rofl. Now they should be a good investment, no way we can do without power eh. Lurking. |
