1281661 2012-06-15 09:19:00 Tama Iti and his dumb mates were planning on doing just that gary67 (56)
1281662 2012-06-15 09:48:00 ok, so, if Tama Iti and his band of merry rebels did do that (of course his rebels would also comprise of Hone, John Minto and Sue Bradford), actually, I dont think Tama would ever get enough support to do that, so lets say the destiny church sided with them. So what would we do about it as a country, or would it turn into a full scale civil war with the Govt having very little control, I guess our Govt could call on the Australian army/navy/air force for some support. 1281663 2012-06-15 22:06:00 the ozzies would be arming the rebels, getting Prefect to smuggle them in. After all JK is a democratically elected dictator just like Assad gary67 (56)

An immigrant calling our democratically elected Prime Minister a dictator. Not good at all.

Exactly prefect ... there are far better things we can call him ... :D

And personally ... I get sick to the stomach when children that have done nothing get slaughtered in their homes ... when THAT happens, someone has to take a stand and go sort this $h!t out. The Russians have said that they haven't supplied helo's ... maybe not directly, but it's not rocket science to identify what make/model helo's are flying around demolishing buildings. Maybe the US should give some SAM's to the rebels (indirectly of course) and even the odds a bit.

1281666 2012-06-15 23:18:00 If 10,000+ people in NZ started marching, throwing fire bombs, smashing everything up in sight because they didnt like the Govt and bringing the country to its knees etc, what would we do? And what would we think if the Yanks started supporting them with small arms to fight against the authorities?

The goverment would send in our army and kill them all.

No but seriously its a good question.

I suppose the difference is that NZ is a democracy whereas Syria is a dictatorship.

Is it? Doesn't seem like it

1281668 2012-06-16 00:36:00 I doesnt really matter who the Govt is, the fact is that there is now about 10,000 "rebels" (now some of them are armed with illegal firearms) attacking the police, army, and pro-Govt supporters, the question remains, how would we stop it? How could a civil war be prevented? Iantech (16386)

Maybe by not being such total arse-holes and so vigorously oppressing the general population for long enough that they get so pissed off and desparate enough to take up arms against the regime ...

Well, in NZ you can vote every three years on which incompetent dictator you want in power.
