2002-07-09 14:02:00 | Is there anyone out there who can tell me where I can get a driver for a Forefront Technologies monitor, model ECM-5413?? I'm desperate, because I feel like I've looked everywhere! I'm running Windows98, which has a Forefront Tech driver, but its for what seems to be a newer Forefront monitor. Please help!! | angel_rapper (949) | |
2002-07-10 03:59:00 | u bought the moniter from fore front technologies here in Auckland right? have u been to their website? i found a fore front technoloiges site in auckland but they only deal with speach accesories. check it out here (http://www.forefront.co.nz) . it might not be the right site, if it isn't give me a yell and i'll try again. cheers, v.K----------:D

2002-07-10 04:36:00 | Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I can't find anything on that site about my monitor. And to answer your question, no I didn't get the monitor from Auckland...I actually picked it up second-hand, thats why I don't have the driver. It seems to be quite an old monitor, which is probably the reason I can't find it anywhere. But thanks anyway. If you've got any other ideas that might help me, please let me know. Thanks. | angel_rapper (949) | |
2002-07-10 07:05:00 | It could be a "badge engineered" unit. I did a search for the ECM-5413 and it showed me a site on Zeos computers. Have a look at: support.micronpc.com Perhaps the "Desktops" area ...

2002-07-10 08:47:00 | thanks, but again no luck. I feel like I've tried just about everything! could it be possible that there just isn't a driver for this monitor?? | angel_rapper (949) | |
2002-07-10 10:07:00 | Generally a monitor is a monitor.... Why don't you just use a default generic vga or svga one already in windows?. Apart from some esoteric colour tweaking abilities (which few ever use) there shouldn't be much difference. Most of the attributes (number of colours, resolution etc) are to do with your video card/chipset drivers and not your monitor

2002-07-10 10:17:00 | Yeah, I know I can use a generic driver; I'm using one at the moment. I just want the one for this monitor, because at the moment it can only do 640x480 resolution, but when I originally got this computer, it had the driver installed (I had a serious problem and had to format the drive), and it was working at 800x600, which was MUCH better. I just can't stand the size of everything. | angel_rapper (949) | |
2002-07-10 10:24:00 | But the resolution has almost nothing to do with the monitor driver..... Resolution is set by the Video card/chipset driver. Monitors are dumb devices that try to display what they are given. Some monitor drivers will limit the available resolution (as in the case of the LCD monitor driver I use, limits to 1024x768) What is your video chipset or video card type (which has nothing to do with your monitor) 640x480 sounds suspiciously like your motherboard has lost its driver and is operating in default mode. What type of "adapter" is reported

2002-07-10 15:08:00 | Type of adapter reported is correct - it says ATI Rage 3D Pro (atir3). And when I use a 'Plug & Play Monitor' driver for my monitor, the selections for resolution go way up into like 1140xsomething (none of which above 480x600 this monitor can handle)...can't remember exactly. But yeah, like I said, I just can't make the monitor do 800x600 anymore. But what do you mean, the motherboard could be acting in 'default' mode? should I try getting a driver from somewhere for my motherboard? | angel_rapper (949) | |
