61589 2002-07-11 07:15:00 i was in the registry, and accidently deleted a key, in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk, and now no links work, (or short cuts should i say), can someone please export that key and email it to me, or just post the key values, etc. sal (67)

*Backup your registry*

Start Notepad

Copy and paste the following into notepad:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk]
@="lnkfile"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk\ShellNew]
"Command"="RunDLL32 AppWiz.Cpl,NewLinkHere %2"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk\ShellEx]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{500202A0-731E-11d0-B829-00C04FD706EC}"

Press save and type this into the save dialog box "linkfix.reg" with the quotes. Save it on your desktop.

start -> Run -> regedit

press f3 and in the find what box type:

LNK file thumbnail interface delegator

It should eventually come to a key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{insert big number here}

Copy the big number.

Right click on linkfix.reg and choose edit. Replace the very last big number with the number you found before if it is not the same

close and save changes.

Close your eyes, cross your fingers, and double click linkfix.reg

Reboot and all should be well. If not, you're in for a re-install... 		Elwin Way (229)

Yes but there're NOT in the original text, it's when some things get pasted into PressF1. Those long numbers are of course a single string.
