Look for a recent post with over 70 replies.... Their Wellington branch seem to have been annoying their subscribers lately

I personally use Slingshot, but, I live in Chch. I find them very good. Always connect first time, good speed, never get kicked. But ...

It appears to be only a good service if you live in a main centre. Not Porirua, New Plymouth etc.

61444 2002-07-12 23:59:00 Yep Iv'e been having bulk prroblems with Slingshot in Wellington (see ISP WOES)
I'm going to Christchurch next month for 2 weeks & I'm going to take my PC with me & see if the problems persist down there.

And god help you if you have a problem! We were using them (and their VISP stablemates) at work and they would not even respond to requests for service, and when you did get someone they were completely disinterested and borderline rude.

I personally have good service out of Paradise. 250 hours for $20. I NEVER go anywhere near 250 hours a month (well...in a 28 day period actually)

well recently I'd be using up that amount of hours in 10 and 5/12 days :D

61447 2002-07-15 00:24:00 I'm presently with e3 because they have put a speed limit on downloading from p2p applications. their price is also just gone up to $17.95 a month.
but apart from that they do have good bandwidth (except in the busy periods)

61448 2002-07-15 02:29:00 I've been with Paradise for a couple of years on the $20/250 hours plan. Up until recently, I wouldn't have faulted them - first time connect, no matter what time of day, and either a 52K or 49.6K connection speed. However, since Telstra got into bed with Clear, I have noticed some adverse changes, especially around connection speeds. I now regularly get 33K and also, once, a 4K speed(!!!). It seems they may have some archaic modems still connected to their network that you can be stepped down to if they are busy. But a disconnect and redial usually brings me back to an acceptable connection speed... John Carter (979)

My mother and aunt both use them.

I use Slingshot
