62310 2002-07-14 03:09:00 Can anyone advise me how I go about doing a Bios flash using Windows XP Home Edition.
I have already obtained an updated Bios from the ASUS Web Site and have that on a 3-1/2" floppy disk.
My Motherboard is ASUS A7A266.
With my old Windows 95 I used to go into MS-DOS command prompt.
However with Windows XP I understand that doesn't exist.
Please advise how this is done with Windows XP.

Thanks.

You can create a bootable floppy from within WinXP or you can use a Win9x (95 or 98) boot floppy. All you want it for is to boot to 'DOS'. and then follow your instructions for doing your BIOS update using the update bios diskette.

personally I keep a large range of bootable floppy diskettes for various MS-Dos versions, Windows flavours including NT / W2k /XP etc...

Cheers, Babe.

P.S. From WinXP:
If you are using Windows XP Win Explorer Format a floppy disk and in the Format window tick the "Create an MS-DOS Startup Disk" option... this creates a bog standard nothing but basket bootable floppy.
