62972 2002-07-16 06:16:00 is it possible to trace a hacker by the number example 24 203 3 56 ?? trebro (1074)
62973 2002-07-16 06:19:00 I assume you mean the IP address, with "." replaced with " ". There is a reverse ARP request which might give you the host's domain name. But if it's a clever cracker, it will have faked the IP address, just as they would fake the hostname. ]:) Graham L (2)

62977 2002-07-18 10:13:00 Try Neowrox.com's Neo Trace Express, using it, I know that PressF1 is hosted in the "NorthShore" it comes up with, my hotmail is hosted in US somewhere etc... Very useful!

62978 2002-07-18 11:21:00 If it's in NZ it will *always* show Northshore. -=JM=- (16)
62979 2002-07-18 21:36:00 PressF1 hosted in the NorthShore! Bah, humbug. Since when are our offices at 246 Queen St, the "North Shore". :D Biggles (121)
62980 2002-07-19 04:43:00 From here, it's "off the North shore" (off the north shore, across a bit of water, then about 400 miles further north). Graham L (2)
62981 2002-07-19 06:26:00 It's just what happens with locations that are based in NZ.

I tried doing a trace to my own IP (assigned by ISP) and it came up with an arrow leaving CHCH with a '?' at the end.

When I tried doing a trace to the webserver at my college. It came up with Northshore. Which is completely wrong when it is located on Columbo and Gloucester. ;)
