| 63269 | 2002-07-19 10:26:00 | Susan, to ensure you do not get repeat fax spam, identify the sender and fax it back, taping the paper into a loop. After 15 minutes they should run out of paper at the other end.... I agree and see the point of the original post, I sometimes activate soft fax reception when I know I have a large fax coming. Also many of my faxes are "evidentiary" in nature and need to be embedded in reports, so it saves scanning them. In this case I think an external faxability capable modem is the cheapest fix... |

| 63271 | 2002-07-21 10:54:00 | You may find this useful . I have a Brother 520 MC and it handles the fax etc very well set up as per following details using Brother Missing link software and serial cable conversion unit that came with my Brother MC I have a single ph line with 1 number, and no other services IE call waiting, fax etc !!!No extra Phone line charges!!! Telephone line plugs into Brother line in . PC Modem Rockwell 56 PCI plugs into lineout on Brother MC Brother serial conversion unit into Brother PC1/p socket then serial plug to PC serial socket Brother Missing Link software loaded into PC windows 98 startup menu Brother set up as follows MC to PC enabled Set up to detect fax code . or if Phone call allow pickup, or after 6 rings to message recording . If after hearing message caller can dial *91 to advise a fax is following If fax detected and PC off will print out fax Note you can set up message cetre to store fax's in memory . I havent used this feature as it reduces phone message time . If PC turned "on" Instead of printing fax it is stored in Brother Fax Message dir in PC . Where you can read it, delete it send it from PC as a fax via Brother software . In addition you can scan a document into PC at 300dpi by selecting scan doc and feeding it through Brother as if sending a fax . I dont have softwqare but no doubt you could convert into text so word could allow editing if required . Software allows setting up multiple groups for combined fax out etc Chers |
