64071 2002-07-21 11:07:00 i have just bought an iomega preditor cd writer to back up my autocad drawings however when i placed in the CD-R disc to record my backup everything went to plan but when it came to opening the file an autocad LT message appeared ' error downloading dialog control file' which has meant it will not open the file as it appears in the original it also wont let me delete the copy which i now realise is the fact that im using CD-R instaed of CD-RW can anyone explain why the copied file will not open in the first instance Thanks eddie (1144)
64072 2002-07-21 11:11:00 Did you save the file in its original form, or as some form of "backup" (your words) format?

If you have used some "backup" software (perhaps supplied with the drive?) then you will need to "restore" it to its normal file type using the same software.

Just a long shot, but with no information supplied to go on....?

64074 2002-07-21 22:52:00 try using cd creator for ease of use or nero burner if you want more complex burning options kiwibeat (304)
64075 2002-07-21 22:59:00 Is the copied file the same name and extension as the original, and the same size?

If the "native" software compresses the file it will need to be uncompressed.

If all else fails read any documentation files with the software, it may give a hint. If it uses the word "backup" it probably is compressed.

There will be settings for it though I would guess. Not familiar with the product. What error message do you get when you try to open the file?

64076 2002-07-21 23:03:00 also use cdrw disks if you want to back up stuff data that always changes , ie notes work data etc .
CDR for music game installations etc that you want to keep for a long time without changing in the near future .
