2002-07-21 01:14:00 | Hi, Has anybody in the Welly area got a working keyboard for free / cheap? I am after the older non PS2 type plug, has 5 pins in a large round plug. Can't remember what they're called (DIN plug?)- must be getting old... Not too worried what sort, as long it has functions key and some letters of the alphabet. :D Cheers

I have some pretty old ones, and some not-so-old ones. AT type or XT type or other? Mind you, I'm not cursed with living anywhere near Wellington, so you probably won't be interested. Mike. |

2002-07-21 13:07:00 | Thanks guys (and gurls), your so dependable.. :p Mike: Thanks for the offer. Living near Welly isn't that bad... Merlin: I'm pretty sure they aren't compatible. They use a different cable configuration (I think) and if I remember right, it's about the CLOCK wire not right. Thanks anyway. dot_com: When I said free or cheap, I meant 50c and under. That's all I got. I'm not aware of Dicky Smith selling anything under 99c :D

2002-07-21 14:26:00 | Geez Elwin, Don't be so fussy....... not prepared to pay more than 50cents for a keyboard, even one without the F1 keys. Go to the Salvation Army - you might pick up a 10year old one for 49cents LOL What kind of computer is this, that dosen't need a keyboard anyway. Are you Emergency Testing a new invention of a new computer that hasn't got one....... WOW lucky you, you will become wealthy and be able to afford the busfare to the $1. shop Ring Paul Holmes LOL

2002-07-21 23:12:00 | Shuddup :p FYI, I have just repaired a board with a faulty CMOS battery. Since the BIOS isn't set, I would like to test the whole bang/caboodle properly by setting up the BIOS and seeing if it holds. I need a keyboard to do this. Particularly one with a F1 key - so I can press it to get into the BIOS! Duh! But never mind, I made do with a multimeter and the owner said it was cool.
