| 63912 | 2002-07-20 23:22:00 | Has anybody here got any experience with the Sarotech external Firewire/USB2.0 hard drive enclosure? I've recently set one up with an 80GB HDD and attached it to my PC with the FW connection. I'm still on Win98SE. Somehow, it doesn't show up as a removable drive at all in Windows Explorer. In fact, it seems like it doesn't even recognize its existence. However, when I connect it to the USB1.1 port, then it is recognized as a removable drive and I can then do stuff with it. Any ideas or suggestions? Secondly, how do I partition this external drive? I've tried Partition Magic Pro 7.0 while it was connected via USB and it doesn't seem to recognize the presence of the external drive at all. But when I use Fdisk, then I can. Any clues on this? Many thanks in advance. ps. I am upgrading to WinXP Pro soon. |

If so, does it completely handle FW? It may be a bit beyond the capabilities of Win98. > Secondly, how do I partition this external drive? > I've tried Partition Magic Pro 7.0 while it was > connected via USB and it doesn't seem to recognize > the presence of the external drive at all. According to them, it doesn't need any extra drivers since the FW controller should automatically detect it as an external drive. Also, Win98SE supports FW natively. | btong (1066) | ||
