Very recently my sound disappeared. Everything seems properly enabled, new drivers installed, all plugged in.
When I use Creative Spectrum analyser and play a CD, the bars all move like there's something playing, but no sound. The recorder records and shows the spectrum line moving like it hears something but no sound on replay.
How do I set up my audio properties?

Go to "control panel" Then "Sounds & Audio Devices".
Also You didnt say if you checked the speakers were plugged in?or if you get windows sounds when you start your computer?

Cheers Steve

64421 2002-07-23 01:07:00 this may also be related with soundtable, sound table mutes sounds and any wavfiles. it does this randomly, do u have that program? if u do uninstall it cos it's a nuisance. if u don't then wot type of soundcard do u have? there may be some conflict between some onboard devices.

cheers,

64422 2002-07-23 06:42:00 Did you connect the output from the CD player to the input of the sound card??

It does make a big difference

64423 2002-07-23 21:38:00 Do you have normal windows sounds? Have you made sure that you have plugged the speakers into the right jack??

:)

64424 2002-07-24 07:00:00 Well thanks everyone, everything had been working properly until I installed an updated driver. This obviously altered my settings.
I have found the problem. In Control Panel/Sounds and Audio/Play Controls/Advanced Controls I unchecked "digital output only" then "use only default device".
I've no idea what this all means except that everything seems to be working - the whole point, really.

64425 2002-07-24 11:53:00 Hi Fishb8,

Don't know whether you've ever noticed or not, but I sometimes give away chocolate fish as rewards for excellence on the forum .

I also sometimes slap certain people with a wet fish when they demonstrate stupidity .

It's all in good fun, but I'd like to confess that the chocolate or wet fish have originally been "borrowed" from you . I noticed that you have a ® mark so I'd like to ask if I may have your permission to continue borrowing your fish in future . I wouldn't like you to be annoyed with me if you ever read one of my posts and recognise your fish that I had borrowed .

If it helps, you may have the wet fish back, but I can't guarantee the chocolate fish will be returned .

Waiting with baited breath for your response .

64426 2002-07-24 20:54:00 Hi Susan
The signature was the result of a quiet night in the (un-named control room, wonder why your power bills are so high?).
I had noticed a "similarity" to my fish, from your award and very nearly commented. Go ahead Susan, and use it with impunity. There's plenty more fish in the sea!
