64301 2002-07-22 08:52:00 I don't know what has happened. I use to just put a cd in and it would start up straight away. Now I have to go into my cd drive and start it manually. Can anyone help as it is very annoying. I hope I don't sound stupid, Ta cammy (1160)
64302 2002-07-22 09:05:00 What operating system do you have???

How long has this been happening and is it happening with all CD's??

64303 2002-07-22 09:40:00 Hi, you probably just need to select the AutoInsert Notification setting for your CDROM. Select Start-Settings-Control Panel-System, then select the Device Manager tab. Next expand the CDROM option (click + sign) & select your CDRom and click the properties button. Now select the Settings tab then click the Auto Insert Notification button (probably is unchecked at the moment). Phew! This can be done for each CDROM device you have.

Not sure if you need to reboot - Windows will tell you if you have to.

cheers

64304 2002-07-22 11:40:00 it might also pay to know wot kind of cds ur trying to read. if ur trying to read ur own homegrown cdr than u will have to place an autorun.exe file on the cd, but i think that is not the case, if it isn't just follow parry's instuctions.

cheers,

64305 2002-07-22 12:43:00 Also heard that Sony had put some damn encoding on the CD's so you couldn't play them in your computer. Think Celine Dion was the first one they did it with.

This is because everyone who owns a computer (with a CDwriter) is mass-producing bulk copies of "pre-recorded" CDs, setting up stalls on every street corner and mass selling them for next to nothing.

Long live dc++.p2p and may it prosper
