1307864 2012-10-21 00:07:00 Hi guys,

I have my Pioneer BDP-140 Blu Ray player wired to the home network because it has the capability of streaming media from other pc's plus youtube & picasa stuff.

It picked up my brother's PC (Windows 7 desktop wirelessly connected) and I am able to see certain stuff on his computer (which I set up for sharing some time ago).

It can also see my laptop (Windows Vista Acer), but when I try to select it, it just comes up with an error saying "PLB DMS Browse Fail" and so I can't get anywhere on my PC.

When I set up my brothers PC for sharing, it was just by chance that it worked I think, I remember I spent a while trying to make it work, following online guides but nothing happened, then I tried my own thing and eventually got the sharing to work, but I can't remember what I did, so I don't know how to get it working on my lappy. And chances are it's different between Vista and Win7 anyway.

Thanks for your help guys
Sam

1307866 2012-10-21 02:40:00 Ok I managed to get it working with a popup wizard thing that showed up on my laptop. I did update the firmware anyway as there was a newer version (Thanks for mentioning that!).

Now my next question is, regardless of which PC I stream from, it can only play a couple of different file types, for audio it looks like only mp3 (I have some music in mp3, some in wma but only the mp3's seem to work), and for video only the .mpg or .mp4 videos show up in the lists (most videos I have are .avi files). Would this be to do with my blu-ray player? Or to do with the router not being able support such file types?

1307867 2012-10-21 02:46:00 I dont think the router has anything to do with filetypes. It'll be the player that supports whatever file format, not the router. Looks like it only supports divx / divx plus, mkv, avi, wmv, wma, and mp3. So, if you want mpg, or mp4 to work, you'll have to convert them first Speedy Gonzales (78)
1307868 2012-10-21 06:07:00 I take it the bul ray player is dlna? You could try downloading PS3media server, it will transcode on the fly if it needs too. plod (107)
1307869 2012-10-21 11:11:00 After a bit of trial and error I've discovered the blu-ray player only looks in certain folders, for music it automatically pointed itself to My Music on my pc, but for videos it only seems to look for Videos in the Public folder (C:\Users\Public), not in the My Videos folder. So I moved all my videos into there and it works fine now.

Cheers for the help guys!
