1307539 2012-10-18 22:25:00 Hi,

Is my great age being the cause of my losing "accessories" in my "start" programs etc?---or was it ever there?

I am well satisfied with Windows 7 Professional that have had for nearly 2 years, and when I get called to help a friend who still uses XP Home, I have to think deep to recall that which is able to repair XP- I eventually get there but has accessories been accidently deleted in my present W7?

If it has been deleted how can I get it back?

I have only the "upgrade CD which my grandson used to go from XP to Vista to W7 pro, and sure as hell I would really stuff things if I tried getting accessories off it- even assuming it is there even.

1307540 2012-10-20 04:25:00 The Accessories folder should be here C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Program s

(no space before the s in programs, seems to be a PF1 quirk)

Edit: I found this link which may help: answers.microsoft.com

There are a number of links that may help if you use Google to search for 'missing accessories folder windows 7'

1307542 2012-10-20 19:10:00 Interesting, if you hide the Accessories folder it immediately disappears from 'All Programs'; if it is then unhidden, it takes a reboot to make it re-appear. Terry Porritt (14)

Check whether Accessories on your desk top is a folder or just a shortcut.

If it is the actual Accessories folder then move it to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Program s

If it is a shortcut, right click, look at properties and the Target to see where the folder is. Go to 'Target' and move the folder as above.

Oh, and make sure the folder is not hidden.

1307546 2012-10-21 03:53:00 Hi Terry porrit,

I dragged and dropped onto "start" icon- it is now in the "currently used list, not within the "all programs as it used to be-but I can live with that

I am surprised at the number of people who get this same problem

Thanks to all
