| 1307268 | 2012-10-17 03:13:00 | Was setting up broadband for a friend, used their old Telecom supplied gen 1 DSL-G604T router. Had it working fine, decided to upgrade the firmware from the 2006 to whatever the latest on the DLINK website was (2008 I think) and halfway through (using the .web file) it gave me a cannot display webpage page and from then on the status LED and ADSL LED would not turn on the router. Downloaded the recovery thingy, followed all the steps but kept getting a "Script Error: EAccessViolation" Followed all the steps, corrupted image mode, firewall off etc etc. I have heard this is because it is a Win 7 machine and not XP. Do not have access to any computers with XP so is there a way around this? I tried running it with compatibility mode set to XP but still doesn't work. Cannot access the routers admin page at 10.1.1.1 at all. Any help appreciated. |

| 1307270 | 2012-10-17 03:43:00 | Running the recovery program as administrator, should get rid of the Access Violation error. You need to give yourself a static IP as per the documentation and you need to have a switch/hub between the PC and router for the recovery to work. I have recovered a couple of the Gen II 604T for my friends before, so the procedure works if instructions are followed as per the document. Haven't worked with Gen 1 604T | tmrafi (5179) | ||

Haven't worked with Gen 1 604T And that worked on Windows 7? I always thought that the recovery program for these older routers has to be run in XP. |

I thought it said it works better if I have one (but wasn't necessary?). If I need one then I'm out of luck because I don't have one. DeSade, I haven't been with Telecom for broadband for years and the person I'm trying to set it up for isn't with them either. Will they still replace it? The router is as old as anything. |

I didn't need one when I did it, I think it's to make sure the connection is already there before you attempt recovery, so it doesn't time out while it's auto-negotiating settings. If you manually choose the IP address and maybe even force the connection speed in the Ethernet card settings it would probably work. I doubt Telecom would replace it if you're not a customer. |

| 1307276 | 2012-10-17 07:18:00 | Call Telecom and tell them the router won't work any more and you want a new one sent out. Those D-Links are so old they'll throw the "out of warranty" line and want $100 for the replacement. |
