1283157 2012-06-26 06:24:00 I wish I had a ride on lawn mower. They look so fun. ChazTheGeek (16619)
1283158 2012-06-26 07:01:00 Only for about the first 30 seconds then they become just another mechanised machine. When I was a kid I mowed lawns at the local estate with one, never been so bored in my life gary67 (56)
1283159 2012-06-26 07:22:00 Oh dear....ok then. ChazTheGeek (16619)
1283160 2012-06-26 18:41:00 Not boring at all.

Every time you cut the lawn. try a different pattern. I do chevrons one time, circumferential patterns or start at a tree and go in ever increasing circles.

I've got about a full acre to mow here, so pushing a power mower is totally out of the question. Plus a parkway greenbelt over 1/4 mile long and a long driveway and around the stream to mow and edge.

1283161 2012-06-26 21:42:00 Joe, get a bit of fencing around and throw a few sheep in there, no need to worry about the grass and you'll keep yourself in mutton :) Iantech (16386)
1283162 2012-06-26 22:29:00 I'd like that - sheep - yummy.

We got great fences here though.

No Rhododendrons here - at least I HOPE there weren't any, since they're long gone by now.

Not knowing what grows here natively - I've saved a few strange looking green things only to find out they were weeds - then I 'harvest' them. Same with the rhubarb - I though it was just an ugly weed, but my wife told me to not harvest it with the mower any more.

(I hate rhubarb in ANYTHING and the woman insists that she make pies, torts and all sorts of horrible pastries outta it/them/they. PS: the dog won't eat any rhubarb concoctions either and I can't have the animal cruelty abatement people out here arresting me if I throw it out for the birds and wildlife.)

Anyway - we have onions, tomatoes, thyme, parsley, cilantro, lettuce, garlic and some potatoes growing. The rhubarb, AFAIAC, can do what it wants with no assistance from me. I bet sheep won't touch it either.

I gotta go get my Arizona driver's license changed to Montana today - hope I can pass the eye test!
