1307529 2012-10-19 10:44:00 I think it's more a case of "If you don't actually push the router at all, in any way, shape, or form, then you won't encounter the horribly poor limits, such as load, dhcp service crashing, failing to work with a significant number of programs".

Gen-I touted it to my old work as "An enterprise grade router". I nearly died from laughter.
Work wouldn't believe me, but after 3 days of trying to get VoIP to work, a quick router change to a $80 Draytek, INSTANTLY it worked. That's just one of a significant number of examples.

No they're most definitely piss-poor routers, but hey, if it's working for you because you barely touch the internet, then good for you, you've saved yourself having to buy yourself a decent router.

1307530 2012-10-19 19:44:00 Don't buy something which you don't need. What's the point of buying a Ferrari /Mercedes /BMW just for sending your children to school?

How many home-users out there really push the router to it's limit (or beyond}? How many routers in the market at present passed your tests? If you were to do a quick search, you'll find that almost every brand and model of routers or any other devices has got flaws of some kind.

Personally, I have a few mates using the above router and none of them have any issues. Anyway, I have to admit that the UI configuration is not that great and it takes a long time to complete the initialisation for Internet connection. otherwise, it just works, works, and works. :) I used one myself for about month but changed to another brand simply because it takes too long to initialise - I switch it OFF two to three times a day when no one is using it.

1307531 2012-10-19 19:55:00 I often use Skype with video to talk to someone in Uraquay as well as locals, absolutely no problems. No problems with VOIP.

I switch the modem off when not using it and switch off wireless if other users are not connected, it always reconnects back to Internet flawlessly and seems a good router to me for admittedly 25Gig/mnth light usage over the Internet by 4 users.
