1473671 2020-12-15 07:41:00 I found out I had anxiety in 2016 after going through my first relationship breakup. I was highly stressed in my job as a school teacher and suffered panic attacks weekly. The main symptoms then were chest pain. I feel I do so much for my health. I eat well as I’m a coeliac and lactose intolerant, I do yoga, swim, gym, meditate, acupuncture, Chiro, massage, listen to music and podcasts, I don’t socialise too much and don’t drink.

Anyone has experienced the same, I need some of your advice.

But.
Don't take anti anxiety or anti depression medication. been reading about it in the news lately, it makes it all worse!

Have a friend with depression, she got put on them ages ago, well she sure is worse now.......

You sound like you're doing the right things......keep it up and if the job is that bad, quit.

If you are still in that job , you need to get out . Easy to say I'll admit .
Ive seen the long term effects job related stress can have , those employees stayed in that job far too long ( incl me , it was a very toxic workplace ).

Stress can be a killer (literally) . If you still have job relate stress or panic attacks , that needs to be adressed ASAP. Employers are now required to help eliminate or minimize
job related stress where possible .

No, life's too short to stay in **** work.
Husband fretted when he quit Telecom, but after he said he should have chosen a different career years before.....

He was out of work for a year in between.
But more relaxed...

1473676 2020-12-18 00:45:00 My anxiety issues gave me the shakes. I was given a very, very short course of Clonazepam, which was wonderful stuff. It seems it has potential for abuse (recreational), as it was like having a couple of beers under your belt. To this day I still think it'd be 'fun' to have an ongoing supply of the stuff.
Caffeine was adding to my issues, so that had to be reduced. My hours and the pace of the work were cut for quite some time while I got myself settled (many thanks to my employers for their understanding and tolerance). Adjusting my whole attitude to the job also helped.
Little changes like getting out of bed an hour earlier allowed me to take a more relaxed journey through breakfast, showering, toiletting and the drive into work, rather than it being a race against the clock every day.

I've now 'retired' from that work, and with hindsight I now recognise that as someone deep on the introvert scale I was not properly suited to a job that involved dealing with a steady stream of people... I could do the work, but it was draining to my psyche.

If you don't financially need to work fulltime, then reduce your hours... you're trading your life, your freedom and your health for money you might not need.

And this bit of advise I give to everyone... if you are living/working in Auckland - get out! Move! Relocate to a sane part of the country where your commute to and from work is no more than 10 minutes each way.

Yes this is more realistic! I will try to do this, what do you suggest for beginners like me.

Or....... "If a man speaks and there are no women around to hear what he says, is he still wrong"
