64575 2002-07-23 11:08:00 Well, I just bought my first CD burner, and so I'm now interested in what people think is the best free burner software, and where I can get it, and WHY you think its the best. At the moment I'm making do with the XP built in software, and might get around to trying out the software that came with the drive later this week (its called NTI CD-Maker 2000 Plus).

Any comments?

Mike.

64578 2002-07-23 11:20:00 is there any free burning software? i will have to search on that one. all of mine have come with the drives.

nti is not bad tho i had a problem with one ver that has a clash with IE6 that there wasno fix for.(when you drag & droped files it crashed)

replaced with nero and is running sweet.

64579 2002-07-23 11:34:00 I think CloneCD has to be the best CD burning software out, I think there is a trial version but the full version is cheap enough. If you can't be bothered paying for the full version then you can use an alternative method of getting it. ;\

Check it out here (elby.ch)

I didn't misunderstand you... you also mentioned that you thought new drives came with software, so I was just saying that I'd already said it came with software. :)

64583 2002-07-23 11:45:00 Clone CD can only be used for copying CDs and writing/burning images of CDs.

It can not let you grab random files from your HDD and put them onto CD.

NTI is good. I prefer Nero.

I'm picking that you purchased a BTC CD Writer ;)
