64868 2002-07-26 14:47:00 An osteopath or a chiropractor. A few years ago, six people within two blocks on my street had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Three had to have surgery through leaving it too long. The surgery worked well for one, partially for the other, and not at all for the third, who will probably suffer for life. One other was a permanent invalid, one can put up with it, and I was the only one who got a quick, cheap cure, with one visit to an osteopath at the first sign of tingles in the wrist. I'd got the CTS when drawing a map of New Zealand in TurboCAD – many hundreds of mouse presses per day for weeks.

Here's how to find out if you have a vertebrae problem. Drop your head forward and feel around at the base of your neck. There's one vertebrae that sticks out more than the others. Go down three more vertebrae, and prod around. If it's tender there, you've got the answer. Fix it fast – if you don't it will probably only get worse. CTS often starts with numbness or tingles, then progresses to soreness, pain and disability. If you have cortisone injections, spinal manipulation may not help, and you could end up with life-long pain. All the other treatments, postural changes, rests, etc. will not cure the problem if your back is out. If your vertebrae have been out of place for long you may need follow-up treatments and nutrition (magnesium can help) to get it to stay in place.
