64738 2002-07-24 10:23:00 If anyone writes to the webmaster (me) asking WTF that thing in the bottom left corner is, i will know what they mean, but i'm feeling a tad lasy today, so i'll go with it.
No browser will display character symbols that are used in html coding well, but to the best of my knowledge "©" would be OK.
The page gets over 500hits/month, so i expect i'll find out if i'm wrong.

64739 2002-07-24 11:20:00 If it's your site Chris, you can do what you like.

But if you've got a boss who pays you to do things "properly" you have to do as you're told. :D

What brassed me off was the fact that the boss wouldn't know HTML from French but a jealous ex-site creator told on me. That's all he could find to pick on my creation. :D

He was right though, but on "my" sites I'm lazy like you. ;-)

64740 2002-07-24 11:41:00 Susan,
i took over this site, work previous to me had used "(c)" instead of "©", even in the commented out stuff behind the scenes.
There's ALOT of tidying to do that i know needs work before i get onto this sort of thing..
In the mean time, i'm running an experiment just to see if © works. So far, no problem.
There's already been jealous/vindictive e-mail from a previous worker complaining about how the webmaster credit "wasn't going to a legitimate web designer, or employee of the company" (it goes to chris@mi......) The same worker also deleted the site, we had forgotten to change passwords.
The e-mail created both puzzlement and entertainment for those i am responsible to on this project, who took some time trying to figure what he was on about.

BTW, did you ever have a look at that sexy computer case i told you about?

64741 2002-07-25 04:13:00 The "point" is that there is a list of character codes which are part of the HTML standard . If you use the method that is part of the standard, it will work on all browsers which conform to the standard .

Problems could come in the future . with the spread of Unicode . Following the standard now should avoid such problems .

Here's what the World Wide Web Consortium ( . w3 . org/MarkUp/html-spec/html-spec_13 . html" target="_blank">www . w3 . org) says about it .

I finally got there today, at long last, and saw it. Well, I think it's the one you described, do they change them regularly?

Anyway, I WANT ONE!!!! It is sooooo purty. :x

Going to have to redesign my desk layout though, otherwise I'll never be able to look at it.

64744 2002-07-25 05:33:00 Susan,
i think it's a great case, chicks seem to love it, but seeing the sides have been of Vannessa for over a year now, i don't think i would have any good use for one either!

codegirl ,
>>>>plain ole' <ampersand>copy;

say what???? What's an ampersand? (there goes my credability again)

Graham,
OK, OK, i give in to peer pressure, it's now & # 1 6 9 (without gaps)
Chris Wilson (431)
64745 2002-07-25 05:36:00 :O

Chris, an ampersand is this --> &

for example, you'd do & copy ; (without spaces) to get your little copyright symbol.
