2002-07-24 10:13:00 | Now see here God! To check the obvious, first you have to know that the obvious exists. You were right of course (as usual, apart from the need to reboot, which I didn't) but that's what press F1 is for. When something just stops without any warning or any identifiable action that could have caused it, the first suspicion is something has turned itself off. Such is the way of computers, greebnchs and bubnchs. Problem was, I didn't even know you could turn images off, consequently I needed your divine guidance. It's easy when you're omniscient, but us mere mortals have to do a lot of praying. Cheers and thanks Billy :D :D

2002-07-24 10:16:00 | the pictures went out in sympathy for your rear wagon window.... | godfather (25) | |
2002-07-24 10:35:00 | Don't get me started on that God! Buy NZ new they say (second hand though). Parts will be easier to get than for imports. Hah!! Pardon my brittle laugh. They can't get a used rear tailgate for a bog standard Mazda wagon so I have to wait two weeks for some pretty simple repairs to be made. Of course, had it been an import I would have been spoiled for choice. Cheers Billy 8-{( :(

2002-07-24 10:45:00 | Oh Billy, I was hanging on the edge of my seat, waiting to see if godfather's advice (which I was going to suggest myself actually, before godfather beat me to it) worked. Was so relieved to see that it did so that I could cackle at this hilarious thread (you've invented greebnchs!) without guilt - until I got to your last post. :-( Life is SO UNFAIR!!! :_|

2002-07-24 10:52:00 | You could try these two tips Billy, cribbed from Livingstone and Straub. The first is: Click Start, Run Type regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll and press enter. If that doesnt work then the second tip is: Click Start, Run Type regsvr32 actxprxy.dll and press enter Restart the computer Paraphrasing L&S: These 2 tips are for restoring thumbnails and previews that you were previously able to view, but for some reason are no longer associated with the function that displays them. Maybe one of these will do the trick, otherwise you could always try restoring a copy of the registry from when IE was working properly. You probably have the last five days stored by scanreg.
