64884 2002-07-24 12:16:00 first thing. find a handy little program called bho captor or bho deamon. this will show you what bho's (browser helper objects) that are installed. find the gozilla one and disable it.

bho's is one way programs(and nasty crap) can hook into IE.

don't forget to run adaware to cleanout any left over spyware.

i prefer flashget myself for downloading and i think the latest ver doesn't have the cydoor spyware modules. if it does still have it there is fake spyware modules advailabe.

64886 2002-07-24 13:27:00 what johnboy has fail to explain is: we installed the GoZilla program that i downloaded to a CD and some damn browser program started taking over the computer, I think.
Then when I tried to uninstall the program it just keeps comming up with an error message. I cant for the life of me remember what it said know but told johnboy to write it down and post it .
But he has failed.
tweak'e u mention somthing about bho captor, (what does this do in simple laymans terms) have had a quick look see, but dont understand it.
From your post it sounds like johnboy has a virus.
johnboy is extremly new to computers, i know a little bit but that has got me into trouble (on my puter ) in the past.
Well must go get some shut eye, late nites no good of oldies. ;\

64888 2002-07-24 21:38:00 sorry nz merlin i forgot most of what you showed me and told me to post but the error message say,s windows has encountered a problem and must close the error is c:docume~1\johnba~1\locals-1\temp\wer52.temp.diroo\appcompattxt.have looked at bop cop but can,t download anything even by right clicking since we reinstalled go!zilla johnboy (217)
64889 2002-07-24 22:10:00 Sorry to hijack, but is there any way of changing the settings on gozilla so that its not your default for downloading? We had it installed at home for a while, and it would try to download anything I clicked on, then come back and say that it wasn't able to get the file..

I eventually just uninstalled the whole thing, because it was getting rather frustrating.. but it was a good tool for a while (for some things). If we can reconfigure it, it might actually be OK to reinstall..
