| 64869 | 2002-07-24 08:05:00 | It is with sad feelings that I have observed the many postings today from a young person seeking help from Press F1. Maybe it is an indication of the current education system. This person appears to be: Ignorant Illiterate Arrogant Cant spell Cant punctuate Demanding And has been very rude & insulting to those who have tried to offer help. This person would be advised to accept the advice of some who offered suggestions on how to seek help in a polite & clear manner. You will get more helpful advice in this way. Bruce has very tolerant in view of the very rude postings, but has issued warnings. Take notice Timyang. I am sure we all hope that you will learn, improve your skills, and in time become more literate, considerate, and then you may get some friends. Press F1 is free, courtesy of PC World, and the many voluntary people willing to help. Dont expect people to suffer your abuse, and then help you. Anyway, best wishes, Timyang. You are young, and lucky enough to have a good computer. Make the most of it, and with a change of attitude, you could do well. Bazza. |

It's a pity that we can't do it via the internet. I bet a keyboard across the butt would do wonderful things... Anyway, I wonder if he will pick up on the fact that people are actually being nice to him and helping him, and in turn realise that he should be polite back. I think lack to spelling, punctuation and general mastery of the English language could be forgiven if he decided to be nice once in a while. |

We had one young guy that drove people nuts late last year and once we got to know him and gave him some time, he turned out to be okay. Be patient, don't be so hard. And TimYang, maybe you do need to ease up a little. People help others here because they want to, they don't have to. Be greatful for what help you get, and don't make people work so hard to help. robo. |

An excerpt from a previous post: my chipset is a gigabyte kt266a chipset with dual bios and it also says on the box its atlon xp ready, fully over clockable and have a jumperless design and i have a atlonxp 1.4 clockspeed processor an asus 64mb geforce ll mx400 apg vga card and a 230w power supply To able to know this and plead ignorance what a driver is (let alone moderator) is a bit suspect. PS* if he is genuine then his teachers definitely deserve a pay rise |

How would you feel if you had a child that didn't learn better manners than that at school. They sure as hell don't deserve a payrise. But yes in genreal teachers to deserve pay rises. *grumbles about their being no strike on Friday.* |

| 64877 | 2002-07-24 13:07:00 | I feel compelled to answer this for some reason... I'm not trying to stand up for Timyang, but please good people, try not to be so harsh. What we have is a poor, frustrated 13yo with no friends, poor English, and computer problems. So (s)he says. Judging by the comments from this person, I would hazard a guess to say that they are also bored, and perhaps seeking attention. Now try and remember what you were doing at 13. Me, I had a Vic20 that I could only play spacies on. But I was bored, frustrated (for better reasons that I do not wish to go into) and had no friends. I guess, given todays technology, I perhaps might be doing similar things to Timyang. What this person needs is guidance, positive feedback, and encouragement. Bruce has already made an attempt at this, however Bruce has a bigger responsiblity (and a higher proprity) to moderate this board. It is his job to tell Timyang to sod off if need be. In fact, it is quite possible that we will never see Timyang again. |
