| 64721 | 2002-07-24 00:39:00 | There are lots more goodies available if you go Start (at bottom left of your screen) >Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Character Map . Then select a Font Style to view a variety of symbols . As you select each symbol the required keystroke combination is displayed in the window at the bottom right of the panel . eg . £ ± µ ¶ é ¼ ½ ¾ » ² ³ ° Have fun . P . |

| 64722 | 2002-07-24 02:12:00 | Chris, you might be better to use the "escaped" method ... start with an ampersand, then a hash (shift 3) then the code. I can't show it here, because it gets translated --- even in "pre" mode. There are quite a lot of special symbols which have their own named escape codes (ending with ";": the ampersand is "<ampersand>amper;" ... I think copyright is "<ampersand>copyr;", etc. They are listed in various books. | Graham L (2) | ||

| 64727 | 2002-07-24 05:17:00 | Chris, I've got Win 98 and my character map is in the Programs>System Tools on the start menu but I can't remember if that is its orginal place or not as I customise my menu . You can access character map in Word as well, when you go to Insert>Symbol (or use the shortcut icon) . But like Graham says, if you want to insert that (or any other) symbol in webpages you should do it properly and use the code rather than type it in otherwise some browsers won't display the symbol . Graham's link shows you the codes to type (thanks Graham, that's handy!) . Look up the symbol then type in the HTML code to the right of it . |
