2002-07-25 05:35:00 | If you looked at the software list you would see that i am planning to be doing some work with multimedia (Video and Sound). I am looking for flaws in the component specification. Recommendations on fans , cases and where to buy. Any known problems with the components ntddevsys

2002-07-25 05:44:00 | with ram try tto keep the amount of dimms (ram sticks) to a minimum. not many people buy a 256 and a 128. either 2x256 or preferably 1x512. for some reason a lot of motherboards get a little touchy when you start useing all the dimm slots. so if you are planning on adding more ram in future try to get just a single stick of ram. cases- it all depends on what room you have to put one(hard to fit tower cases in desks) looks of course, cooling, and power supply (300watts min, prefer 350)

2002-07-29 05:03:00 | Ok, 512 ram, 1 stick , DVI Video Connection. For the cooling i will have the included heatsink connected to asus q-fan. A Thermaltake A1357 Smart Case Fan II as an Input fan in front of case and output fan at rear of case. A Enermax 350 Watt Power Supply with Adjustable Fan Controller , a Graphics card cooler and a asus IPanel Deluxe. Do i need a graphics card or chipset cooler. I will also have a dual display temp probe. Can anyone help me on connecting midi to my audigy sound card. Ta NTDDEVSYS

2002-07-29 07:12:00 | >a Graphics card cooler why? unless you are going to be overclocking keep the stock one. most motherboards have chipset cooler as standard. i would wait till after you have got pc built and running before you start tweaking it out. midi to audigy sound card? explain please.

2002-07-31 09:18:00 | have you read the latest PCworld? feature in there about home studio. says something about Audigy not cutting the mustard when it comes to audio capture and realtime playback. don't know about the actual process of capturing sorry. you might try asking at a local music shop (rock-shop for instance)

2002-07-31 09:23:00 | i did a music video for a uni project.... running athlon 1700+ w/ 256 mb ram. used adobe premiere, which is good, but 256 doesn't cut it. we only worked at 15fps and 320x240 res. honestly if you're doing it seriously (say as a business venture) pack in as much ram as you can (and can afford). like a gigabyte or something. heaps and heap, more and more.
