There was someone a while ago bagging them, and there was extensive coverage of them on Usenet. I must have seen the stuff on the various Palm groups that I keep an eye on from time to time. I don't think he got much mileage out of it but you may be able to find something about it in an internet search. As for ebay - I have a friend who has bought extensively through them (the USA site, not NZ). He has had at least two extremely expensive and distressing experiences. Personally, I will never use them, based upon his experience. Ebay is not the problem; it is the seeming ease with which rip off artists can use the service. My two cents worth... |

In fact it has increased her US$ turnover hugely, as it's pretty widely accepted in the USA. So nothing bad to say - she transferred some money from her Paypal account to her NZ account, happened overnight with no drama. |

| 64969 | 2002-07-25 03:33:00 | I think the guy was bagging Paypal for what it did with the money it was holding in accounts on behalf of vendors and purchasers. For some reason I don't remember, people have positive balances in their accounts (I guess it is like your mum - they have collected money and not disbursed it, whereas mine has been money in - money out; a seemingly automatic process). From memory, there was some scare mongering over the security of those funds. However, I notice Paypal has obviously weathered the storm, because it is still working. Though I notice on its website that it is going to be acquired by ebay! I kid you not: "SAN JOSE & MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jul 8, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- In a move that will help millions of Internet users buy and sell online, eBay Inc. (Nasdaq:EBAY)(www.ebay.com), the world's online marketplace, today announced that it has agreed to acquire PayPal, Inc. (Nasdaq:PYPL)(www.paypal.com), the global payments platform. The acquisition, which is subject to various stockholder, government and regulatory approvals, is expected to close around year-end 2002." John |

If someone has even a couple of negative feedbacks amongst good ones can mean they sometimes push their luck. Stroppiest guy I ever dealt with shipped below-par product. If they are nice to deal with, they usually do the job. robo. |
