| 64954 | 2002-07-24 13:10:00 | PCI Plug & Play Network Card appaears twice in the network components in Windows 98. Despite installing only once cannot get second appearance removed. Result is when TCP/IP loaded cannot ping other IP addresses or communicate via TCP/IP | wombat (1191) | ||

| 64957 | 2002-07-26 01:58:00 | Try This Restart PC in safe mode (press F8 after P.O.S.T.) Go into Control Panel\system\Device Manager Expand every device and if you find double ups under any of these delete both entries(if you are prompted to restart say NO) When finished, restart PC and it should now find one of each item deleted and automatically reload the coreect driver without any prompting. If you are prompted to restart say NO until its finished installing evreything then restart. Now you should only have 1 entry. The probelm arises when the original install is wrong or you change devices.Windows keeps the other entry in there but hidden from view. I also use this as a general tidy up for PC's that are running slow or having randon CTD's or lockups Cheers G |
