65292 2002-07-26 02:35:00 Hey, when are PCWorld peoples going to teach us how to build one of these (www.angelfire.com)? :D Elwin Way (229)
65293 2002-07-26 03:08:00 Ooh, check out the Hellraiser MP3 Cube! (www.modthebox.com) (scroll down)

And yes, I spend too much time on the net...

65294 2002-07-26 06:00:00 I like the suggestion of making cases out of magnets. You could stick your floppies to it without having to find a fridge magnet --- just use any bit of steel.

But why stop at transparent sides? We could make an NZ case with corrugated iron panels. A theft resistant laptop, with a concrete case. The Lego computer has been done. (So has the Meccano computer--- in WW2, an analogue computer).

And like all fashion items, it doesn't need a guarantee .

65295 2002-07-26 06:02:00 Just come back from a visit to Compulink Auckland where they had a very sexy aluminium & see through case with usb, ps2 in front. Drooled but $480+gst. Don't remember the make. Then I read this thread. Its worth a look. DavidW (532)

That must be why they haven't got it on their website.

I can't understand these shops. ComputerFuture have obviously had a lot of feedback for their fancy one so why aren't they and their rivals promoting them more?

Majority of potential market would be DIYers?

Susan - just got in, thanks for the link, awesome site and fully instructive too! - wait till the other half gets in he will love the ones at Toms site (one in paticular i would say) - he he - One way to get a modded box ;\ find one he likes and he may even buy it!!! Some awesome work - we would love to be able to design our own and then get somebody like that Steve Horsch to make it up for us, that would be the way to go!!!
Definately a market for them so i think maybe Chris should give it a go, may be a good biz venture, I would but i am not what you would call an artistic person, I leave that to the people who are!!

65300 2002-07-26 08:12:00 Robo, I can dream.

I don't happen to have $10,000 on me at the mo...

But yea, I'd love to give it a go otherwise...

65301 2002-07-26 08:32:00 Why do you need 10 grand?

You just get your customers to buy the bits, including the case, do the job for them then charge your fee for the labour. Easy.

The hardest one will be the first. After that, word of mouth will have them queuing up your drive. :D
